In collaboration with Nations Carey’s Patch, the Mission Foundation Movement (MFM) recently visited the Sihhmui Refugee Camp to distribute essential supplies to the camp’s 130 residents, including 45 children and 15 senior citizens aged 60 and above.
The refugees voiced concerns about inadequate food and water storage facilities. Although the neighboring village council has provided water, the lack of proper storage units remains a significant challenge. A few weeks ago, the Zo Re-Unification Organization (ZORO) supplied rice and other food items, but no additional relief has been delivered this year. The dry and hot summer conditions in Sihhmui, harsher than in other parts of Mizoram, have further aggravated their hardships.
Many camp youths are engaged in constructing new huts along the Sihhmui approach road. The camp leader shared plans for more refugees from nearby villages to relocate to the Sihhmui camp in the near future.
During the visit, the MFM Director delivered a brief speech and offered prayers at the camp community hall. The residents and camp leader expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support.
As part of the relief efforts, MFM distributed the following items:
- 25 bags of rice (45 kg each)
- Nutrella
- Cooking oil
- Dal
- Biscuits
- Sanitary pads
- Bathing soaps
- Toothpaste
- Vegetable seeds (corn, pumpkin, chili, brinjal, etc.)
The MFM Relief Project for Myanmar Refugees is actively working to expand its reach to support more refugee communities across Mizoram.
